The first year of IS-4, the high-school Islamic Studies sequence, following Islamic Studies: Grade 9. Islamic Studies previously stopped at Grade 9; Grades 10 to 12 were added in September 2026 to carry the fiqh a young adult actually needs before they leave home.
Grade 10 is the fiqh of wealth and work. A student this age is starting to earn, is being offered a card, and is beginning to think about a loan and a career. This year gives them the rulings before the decisions rather than after them.
Units
- Using a Ruling — how to read a fatwa, and who to ask
- Halal Earning — work, contracts and wages
- Riba — what it is, why it is forbidden, and where it hides
- Modern Money — banking, insurance, mortgages, investment
- Zakat as an Adult Obligation — nisab, calculation, distribution
- Wealth and the Heart — israf, bukhl and sadaqah jariyah
Builds on: Grade 7’s unit on the sources of knowledge and Grade 9’s introduction to fiqh reasoning. Zakat was introduced at nisaab level in Grades 4 and 5; this is the year the student calculates their own.
Lessons are shells. Titles, unit placement and cross-references are built; the lesson content is not yet written.
