The final year of the JBJ Academy Islamic History track. Eighteen lessons — one every two weeks over a 36-week year.
After 1924 there is no caliphate and no single seat of authority. The spine the course has followed for five years — Madinah, Damascus, Baghdad, Cairo, Istanbul — ends, and the year asks what came after: independence movements, the carving of new states, migration and minority life, and the arguments Muslims have had with each other about all of it.
The year closes with the student writing their own place in the history they have spent six years studying. The track closes on the student’s own present rather than on a historical period.
A note for the parent
This year covers living memory and contested ground — Palestine, twentieth-century movements, persecution now underway. Several lessons carry an explicit framing note in the lesson body. Read those before teaching them.
