Year 1 of the primary science spiral. The seven units the student meets again in Grade 3 and again in Grade 4, taught here at the level of first tests — watching closely, keeping an honest notebook, sorting and grouping, and finding out by trying rather than by guessing.
This year carries the child out of the observation habits built in Nature Study K–1 and toward the formal method that Science Grade 4 opens by assuming.
Pacing: one lesson per week, 36 weeks.
