Tajweed proper, then the first real reading. The noon sakinah and tanween rules — ikhfa, idgham, iqlab, izhar — followed by the meem sakinah rules, all drilled to fluency.
The second half opens the mushaf: Al-Fatihah, then the short surahs read from the text rather than recited from memory. The year ends with an independent reading assessment.
Benchmark by the end of the year: applies the basic tajweed rules while reading simple Quranic text.
